A VERY WELCOME DONATION TO VETERANS
Last July, Port Washington resident Susan Dobish reached out to VFW Post 1819 to donate medical equipment—and we couldn’t have been more grateful.
The donation included:
-
2 wheelchairs with accessory footrests
-
2 folding rollator walkers with seats and brakes
-
2 standard walkers
-
A 5-foot aluminum wheelchair ramp
-
Metal walking canes
What makes this gift truly extraordinary? The donor, Pauline Dobish, is 101 years old and a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. She and her daughter Susan continue to support veterans in need, and Memorial Day remains a special time for them, especially when receiving VFW Buddy Poppies.
Some equipment was quickly distributed to our Post members. The rest went to the Nassau County Veterans Services Agency, with help from Service Officer Gil Landeros and Veterans Liaison Linda Zorn, to reach veterans in the wider community.
All of us at VFW Post 1819 thank the Dobish family for their generosity and dedication. Their example reminds us of the respect and honor our veterans deserve.
