Hometown Heroes Banner Project – 2025
In recent years, many municipalities across our country have chosen to honor the men and women who have served or are currently serving in our Armed Forces by displaying their photos on banners along main thoroughfares. Our local VFW Post 1819 has decided it is time to pay tribute to our own military heroes in the same way.
Our goal is to raise funds to create and install banners on Port Washington’s Main Street and Manorhaven Boulevard. These banners will feature photos of our local heroes, along with their names and branch of service. To achieve this, VFW Post 1819 will collaborate with Town of North Hempstead Councilwoman Mariann Dalimonte, the Village of Manorhaven, American Legion Post 509, the Port Washington Fire Department, the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce, the Business Improvement District, and many other civic organizations. All banners will be installed by Home Run Electric of Port Washington. Our aim is to have the banners installed before Memorial Day 2025 and displayed through November 17th 2025.
